What is Kundli matching?
Kundli matching compares two Vedic birth charts using traditional astrological rules. One familiar method is Ashtakoota, which combines eight factors into a score out of 36. It is a traditional interpretive framework, not a measured probability that a marriage will succeed.
A useful reading should tell you which method it used, which details it received, and where uncertainty remains. Keep the score alongside what you learn about each other through time, choices, and conversation.
Prepare the details before you compare
For chart-based matching, gather each person’s birth date, recorded birth time, and birth city. Select the correct city rather than another place with the same name. If the time is approximate, say so; small changes can matter for timing-sensitive chart factors.

What should a detailed Kundli matching explanation include?
Look for the inputs used, the matching method, the individual factor scores, and an explanation of any limitations. In an Ashtakoota reading, the eight factors should add up to the displayed total out of 36. Additional checks, such as a Manglik assessment, should be labeled separately rather than silently mixed into that total.
Keep three kinds of information distinct: calculated chart factors, traditional or AI-assisted interpretation, and what the two people actually say about their relationship. A readable report lets you tell which kind of evidence supports each statement.
A checklist when two websites give different scores
Compare the records side by side before treating either score as definitive. A corrected input can explain a difference without either site using the same underlying chart.
- Do both reports use the same birth dates, including the date format?
- Are the birth times, AM/PM, cities, and historical time-zone offsets identical?
- Do the reports disclose the same ayanamsa and matching method?
- Are you comparing the same eight factor scores, or a different compatibility scale?
- Does either reading apply exceptions or additional chart checks? Ask for those rules to be explained.
